Live Your Truth With Symbolic Jewelry
ASTOR & ORION’S JEWELRY MEANS SOMETHING.
When I started Astor & Orion, I got to live out my passion for design in every piece, creating intricate symbolic jewelry that represents everything that matters to me.
Wearing jewelry is part of a longstanding tradition of self-adornment and style. (History buff? Here’s an article explaining some of the ancient traditions of jewelry wearing, from Egyptian pharaohs to Henry VIII! Sorry in advance for nerding out.)
And all our jewelry stands for expressing your inner beauty without harming people or the planet.
Building on that concept of care, this collection of symbolic charm necklaces was designed as an offering to help anchor in reality the spiritual ideas of luck, wisdom, and protection. Here’s what I mean:
FINGERS CROSSED FOR GOOD LUCK.
Cross your fingers, knock on wood. Our Good Luck Charm Necklace is all about holding space for the idea that luck will favor us, and things will work out for the best.
I love those moments in our lives where we roll the dice and hope for the best, and I wanted to create a piece to represent that breathless space between hoping and having.
I’ve been there before - like when I took the plunge to start designing jewelry and threw myself into Astor & Orion full-time. This homage to taking that chance has a lot of meaning for me, and I hope it brings a little extra luck to you, too.
This is also the perfect gift to let someone know you’re rooting for them. Give them a little good-luck boost in their endeavors, and make it clear that you’re in their corner, no matter what. Who knows, it just might help.
THE EVIL EYE FOR PROTECTION.
While this imagery is called the “evil eye,” its purpose is actually one of reflection, deflecting the curse of someone else’s “evil eye” away from you.
Our Evil Eye Charm Necklace pays homage to the leagues of cultures that use one form or another of the evil eye.
Believers in the curse of the evil eye feared that, in times of personal success, the jealous stares from those around you could curse you to misfortune. The symbolism of this reflective eye was meant to protect you from this bad energy.
This powerful symbolism has remained captivating to humans in Ancient Egypt, Greece, Mesopotamia (modern day Syria), all the way up to present-day Turkey, where newborn babies are still gifted the charm, and beyond.
Wearing the evil eye symbolizes protection from negative energies. Allow yourself to represent who you are, no matter what and use this protective charm while seeking good fortune as well. It can’t hurt to seek good vibes, right?
THE SERPENT WRAPPED AROUND YOUR HEART FOR WISDOM.
Some mythology represents serpents as dangerous, tricky beings, but I don’t think so. Snakes can symbolize so many things, like duality and balance, healing, and wisdom.
I love the idea of a protective serpent safeguarding your heart, granting you the wisdom to follow your heart and trust your intuition. That was the inspiration for our Wise Heart Silver Charm Necklace.
Through their gods, Hinduism characterizes serpents as fearless, powerful, and bringers of rebirth and prosperity. And I believe that serpents are fearless and powerful, the perfect symbol of channeling your own wisdom.
We’re constantly looking for ways to protect our hearts, so adding symbolic jewelry to your wardrobe can make you feel connected to your emotions and it’ll help you trust your intuition for current or new relationships.
BRING A LITTLE BIT OF MAGIC INTO YOUR EVERYDAY LOOK WITH OUR SYMBOLIC JEWELRY.
I set out to represent good luck, protection, and wisdom, hoping to connect to these powerful symbols in my own life and yours. I don’t think it’s possible to do that without also taking care of the planet and people.
I made sure that our entire process respects my design goals, the environment, and the people who make our jewelry. That way, when you choose jewelry that’s meaningful to you, you don’t have to decide between embracing your style and harming others.
You always have the option to choose pieces that look good, and feel good. Interested? Shop our collection to see what’s out there. Now let’s get out there and build some good karma.
